Does the name crossbone has anything to do with the pirate skull symbol on their mecha heads?

Why are they rarely seen on anime?

Because the Crossbone Vanguard Gundams aren’t featured in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam F91……. it only appears in the manga/novel.
The Crossbone Gundams are very unique, the X1-Kai will later became the infamous “Skull Heart”……which I really would love to see in anime form……… but…… I doubt it will ever happen anytime soon…
