AMBank called me today when I was having lunch at Sakae Sushi@Sunway Carnival mall in Butterworth Penang, regarding my blog posts below :

The person over the phone said they are going to clarify a few things regarding my posts about NexG Pre-Paid credit card. So, here I go again…….

Some Misunderstanding
I was told that my previous posts ‘More nightmare from NexG Pre-Paid Credit Card‘ that the owing RM280 was some misunderstanding. Granted, at that time when I checked via my NexG card at AMbank ATM, the balance enquiry was somewhere around -RM280. It was the same when I check using AMOnline. Only the call to AMBank call centre told me I still have around RM9 balance at that time (after a whole lot of panicking.) I will leave it at that, since everything turns out fine.

AMOnline Allowed?

I was previously NOT ALLOWED to open an AMOnline account using your NexG. I was lucky that I had a previous saving account with MBF bank that I have forgotten about. They should have put up a notice or something that due to fraud cases that they have restricted NexG from registering to AMOnline instead of me calling them and asking about it. Anyway, I was told today that they have lifted the restriction and you can register to AMOnline without a opening a savings account. Which is in line with Peter’s comment here.

Missing Statements Found!

Thanks to the clarification, I finally understand what happened to my statements. So, the case of Missing Statements was really yet another misunderstanding.

Paypal still unwithdrawable
I was told that MasterCard can withdraw from Paypal. However, when I check my paypal account, only my PB Visa Electron card is withdrawable!

I still can’t withdraw using my NexG pre-paid card, as the drop-down menu only has one option, which is my PB Visa Electron card. Even with my NexG set as Primary card for Paypal. So, this one is still thumbs down.

Apology Accepted
My old grandmother story ‘NexG Pre-paid credit card experiences‘, which it took me like about 3 weeks to get my card activated due to the AMBank branch didn’t fax my application and the hassle I went through just to get it activated, the person on behalf of the branch apologize to me. I accept.

AMBank Gets a Thumbs Up
I give my kudos to AMBank for calling me and clarifying and apologizing. I really appreciate it. At least I know they care.

What I think about the call I got today

Didn’t know they AMbank also read blogs. Probably my posts urls ended up in someone’s email and it went all the way high up or someone reported my posts to them or my posts was mentioned when someone called up for clarification. The person over the sounded like he had prepare everything regarding my blog posts, as he mentioned about my blog a few times during the beginning of our conversation. Anyway, it a positive step that they called me. Now, maybe I can give my NexG another chance. Anyone using NexG card has any bad or good experiences using it? Do tell.

Before You Start

Do not submit your application at any AMbank branch. Take the whole starter pack back home and photocopy the registration form. DO NOT USE the original registration form for faxing. Fax using the photocopy one. Keep the original. This is because if you use the original form, the fax will turned out blurry. Sometimes they wouldn’t be able to process your application because of it.

Remember Thy Information

Remember all your details that you filled up in the registration form. This is because it will be used when you call their contact centre for assistance. This is for security purposes when you call their contact centre. Make sure you remember what you filled up in the application form.

Numb3rs to Remember

Remember AMbank’s contact centre number : 03-21788888. Trust me, you will be calling them a lot of times. Since I begun using NexG, I have called their contact centre like 50 times. And that’s only from September till October. I have since stop using my NexG.

Your HIStory 

You have to keep your own transaction history, write down what you purchased online or not. Keep your receipts and top-up slips. Why? Read below this one.

AMOnline Not Allowed

You are NOT ALLOWED to open an AMOnline account using your NexG. You need an Ambank savings account. You can open one with RM20. Also apply for a non-fee ATM card. This is because according to their contact centre, NexG pre-paid has been restricted and not ALLOWED to create an AMOnline account. I have been adviced by 2 contact centre personnel to go open a savings account in order to link my NexG card so that I can use AMOnline with my NexG card. Opening an AMonline account saves you time and money and you are able to view your transaction history WITHOUT…..

Paying For the Extra Services

Transaction statements will be send by mail for RM20. Faxing to you will cost you RM5. So, it would be cheaper to look at your transaction history by just opening an AmBank Savings account. Only RM20 to open an AMbank savings account.

Missing Statements

If you have been using your NexG then only register for AMOnline. Transaction statements doesn’t appear if you used your card BEFORE you register for AMOnline and linked your card to your savings account to it.

Paypal unwithdrawable

If you want to withdraw money from Paypal to your NexG pre-paid, don’t bother, since Paypal will only allowed withdrawals to VISA cards. NexG is a MasterCard. So, best to get a Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card which has been confirmed to be able to withdrawal money from Paypal.

I got my Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card today. My second time having the card, the first time I just let the card lapsed. Two cards which is better?

In my opinion, Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card definitely better. As my brother who is using one has no complains about it. While my NexG Pre-Paid MasterCard is a pain in the a$#.

According to long time Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card user LcF@liewcf.com, he has been blogging about using his Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card and most of them are praises for it.

So, my advice and also go and read up on LcF’s experience at using Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card. Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card wins by a mile.

As for NexG, My opinion however is : DON’T USE IT. IT’S CRAP!
