Google Adsense has rolled out “Simplified ad management“. It’s actually your adsense code, simplified. Look below at the new adsense ads code.

It’s shorter than the previous adsense code. Another thing is that you get to name your adsense code. According to the Official Adsense Blog,  all your new ad code will have a name and an unique ad slot ID. This is so that you can remember which code is where on your blog/website.

Once you generate your new adsense code, you can click on Manage Ads in your Adsense account and edit settings for any of your adsense code.

I have changed all my adsense ads code on my blog. It’s really “simplified” and because of the name, I know which ads is where on my blog template. Pretty “simplified” right? Have you updated your adsense ad code?

Apparently, the equation above is also right. Just that it’s different from what we are expecting. According to the Official Google Blog, Google is not going to announce a GPhone, but they are going to announce the Open Handset Alliance and Android, which is more than just a single handset.

It includes an operating system, user-interface and applications — all of the software to run a mobile phone, but without the proprietary obstacles that have hindered mobile innovation.

Looks like Google’s plan is more like turning everyone’s phone into a GPhone, rather than making a GPhone. A kinda cool plan to take over the world! hahahaha. What do you think about your phone becoming a GPhone?

Gmail will be adding IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) to it’s already vast arsenal of email features. According to the official Gmail blog, the next couple of days, you will be able to use Gmail at work, in your car, or just about anywhere on any device, and actions you take will be automatically synced with Gmail on the web (and remember it works the other way too: anything you do on the Web will be seen on your phone or in your mail client).

Silly me or laugh at me, but I didn’t really bothered about what is IMAP until now. Definitely will checked it out now. However, since I am already using Gmail Mobile application on my k700i, I wonder if there will be an updated version of it with the rolling out because of this IMAP thingy?

The rumours are going wild with this article here. Just like other Google rumours, will this one take flight? or will it be grounded just like Google OS and GBrowser.

Google will be Google. When they launch something, it is going to be a surprise. They even do it on a day when people think everything is a joke (ala 1st of April). So, it is very hard to know what is truth and what is false when it comes to Google. There could be a Gphone somewhere in the works, or there could be not. We really don’t know. Given Google’s history and track record, the possibility is there.

I noticed that Google likes to surprise people when everyone starts to believe the rumours is nothing more than hot air, then comes the bomb shell and everyone becomes speechless.

So, it might be a rumour now, but when it is a Google Rumour, then there might be a possibility of a surprise at the end of it. What do you think?

I own a Sony Ericsson k700i. For a normal mobile phone user like me, this model has all the features I want. Bluetooth, camera, color screen, mp3 player..etc. It doesn’t have that cutting-edge factor, but it’s good enough. Now, the problem with this that it is not supported to run Gmail mobile application because it lacks the Verisign Class 3 public certificate with the serial no : 70:BA:E4:1D:10:D9:29:34:B6:38:CA:7B:03:CC:BA:BF.

Well, after looking for a solution, found one at the Google Mobile Help Group.

In order for you to run Gmail Mobile application on your Sony Ericsson k700i,

1. You need to download the roots certificate from Verisign. Click here to download the zip file. Fill up the form and download the roots.zip file. Unzip it and in the folder ‘VeriSign_Roots‘, find the file ‘PCA3ss_v4.509‘. Rename it to ‘PCA3ss_v4.509.cer‘

2. Use your bluetooth or infrared or any other methods to upload ‘PCA3ss_v4.509.cer‘ into your phone. For me, I use bluetooth. Once you upload the file, your phone will ask you if it is a certificate. Press Yes and it will be installed.

3. Now you need to get the Gmail mobile application file, since you probably won’t be able to download it via your phone’s WAP or GPRS as it is an unsupported phone. Instead, download it from Gmail by clicking here.  After you download the file, upload the file ‘gmail-g.jar‘ to your phone and put it in your phone’s application folder and start it. Type in your user name and password and you are done.

And now I can access my Gmail account anywhere! Woo hoo… finally!

as of today, October 21st Sunday 2007 +8 GMT, my gmail account has a storage space of around 3.9GB.

I have nothing to do and bored, so just reporting in case anyone that didn’t notice it, notice it now or something like that..

As of today 18th October 2007 , my Gmail account storage is at 3577MB or around 3.5GB. At this rate, come 23rd October 2007, it will hit around 4321MB as stated by unofficial news source. 4.3GB of storage, that is about to catch up with Hotmail’s 5GB of storage.

But I am in the opinion that increasing storage is nothing new anymore. Since there is already an abundance of storage space. Not to mention those who open a few Gmail accounts. Like me. I have around 3 Gmail accounts, 3 Hotmail accounts and 2 Yahoo Mail accounts.

I would rather see more features rather than more storage space. And also improved spam filters. Gmail has the best as it catches the most spam/junk mails. Hotmail and Yahoo Mail still have a long way to go!

Gmail still has the best interface so far as compare to Yahoo Mail’s new interface and Live Hotmail.  I hope there will new features rather than this race about storage.

There is already a few suggestions of new features for Gmail @ Gmail suggestions..
A few of the suggestions are very promising like :

• Customize my Gmail color scheme

• Import messages from my other email accounts

Update : It’s now 3.7GB and climbing!

If you have been using Gmail mobile application on your mobile phone, then you might be interested to know that Gmail has updated it’s Gmail mobile application. According to the Official Gmail Blog, the new application will have a few new features and updates to it.

Changelog (of somesort) :

• more than 30 percent faster overall, and 80 percent faster for some tasks
• a contacts viewer to view your all Gmail contacts and addresses
• an outgoing mail footer to let your recipients know you’ve sent an email from a mobile device
• click-to-call phone numbers which you can call without retyping the number
• emails are saved for later re-editing if connection drops or if you want to perform another task before sending out the message
• Gmail keyboard shortcuts to perform tasks faster (on phones with full keyboards).

So, if your have a gmail account and a supported mobile phone that can use the Gmail mobile application, then open your mobile phone web browser and surf to http://gmail.com/app and update it! If you don’t have a gmail account, why don’t you sign up for one? Gmail is one of the world best free email service on the internet. Try it, you won’t regret it! Pity my Sony Ericsson’s k700i mobile phone can’t install this application, because it doesn’t have the Verisign class 3 certification.

According to unofficial news source, Gmail will increase it’s storage on October 23 from 3.1GB to 4321 MB of storage (around 4.3GB). It will slowly grow until around 6G at the beginning of January 2008. According to the unofficial news source, after January 4th 2008, the storage counter will increase 3.3MB per day. And it would seems that Gmail’s paid storage option will also be given a boost in storage without changing the prices. Although this news is unconfirmed, Gmail already mentioned plans to increase the storage at the Official Gmail Blog, so we just have to wait and see if suddenly, our gmail account’s storage gets a boost.

This is good news indeed. It is also probably a counter-reaction to Hotmail’s 5GB free storage and Yahoo Mail’s (virtually) unlimited storage space.

I wonder what’s next? Since, now storage is not an issue anymore. It probably will go down to which email service provider is going to come up with more features and better service in this arms race for market share(??).  Adding more storage is not good enough when there is already an abundant of storage. I would like to see an increase in size for email attachments from 10MB to around 15MB or 20MB per email or more!

There is also a need for better spam filters.  Hotmail and Yahoo mail needs to improve on their spam filters, as my Hotmail and Yahoo Mail accounts will have spam mails in my Inbox. Which means, the spam filters are not working. However, even Gmail too fails to catch one or two of those pesky spam/junk email on rare occasions.

Gmail still is the best free email service there is. Hopefully, the Gmail team will improve some more after this whole storage arms race is being won and done with!

Those who have a Gmail account knows that their email storage space is ever increasing day by day. However, according to a blog post from the Official Gmail Blog, Google plans to increase Gmail storage capacity by increasing the rate in which the storage counter will increase. Currently the counter is at around 2.9GB increasing little by little.

I guess this is because Hotmail increased their storage to 5GB of free space, while Yahoo Mail virtually gave limitless storage space.

I wonder how to use all those storage? So far, my Gmail account is only using up to 7% of 2.9GB.
