Beginnings

It’s been a really fantastic year for me. Got my own domain and own Wordpress blog. Not to mention that I am having fun with my new blog!

It’s been 3 months since I switch from my blogspot account @ http://kljs.blogspot.com/ and the experience very satisfying!

Pirating: The reality that anti-piracy people won’t want to except.

I am very vocal when is comes to piracy. I support piracy because anti-piracy people have to realize that there is a thin fine line between “Reality and Delusional of p2p” and also it’s a war out there, the “The War of Piracy“. People like vhanded who gave comments like this one, really ought to go ask the people on the streets and not assume why we pirate! :

Hi, understand your feeling. I am anti privacy people too, but I don’t download movies. This is the real world, if you have money, you can spend more. This is like you saw a beautiful watch in a shop, what you can do to get it? Buy it, not steal it. The proper way to play this game is, to get enough money, in a proper way.

I have been wanting to reply to this comment for a very long time, I just didn’t want to bring out the life card. I just can’t hold back anymore. Seriously vhanded, it’s not as if we want to go buy pirated stuff. Are you trying to say we don’t deserve to get entertainment because we can’t afford it? Or are you saying we middle-class and lower-class people are “dirt” and we aren’t allow to have entertainments? To you, maybe you have been living a wonderful life. You have a job as some celebrity manager or something or you work in the showbiz business where everything is about copyrights and earning more money or whatever, to us it is just entertainment. As I have said it many, many times, some of us want to live a life without regrets BEFORE WE PASS ON TO THE NEXT WORLD. We don’t know what might happened to us tomorrow. Maybe we might get hit by a car, die of an illness, win the lottery, fired by our company…etc. Anything could happen. We actually can do what you say and slowly get enough money to buy originals, but reality really is harsh. We have FAMILIES to FEED. We have BILLS to PAY. We have JOBS to WORK. WE HAVE COMMITMENTS that the money to buy one originals can be used for. So, pirated GAVE US THE OPPORTUNITY for use to get the ENTERTAINMENT we want. It’s not as if we don’t want to buy originals, but weighting RM5 against RM50+, do you seriously think we are going to think “Hey, this is against the law, we have to buy originals!”. Seriously, no one is going to think twice when it comes to money. This is one of the many reasons we buy pirated stuff. Stop trying to justify to us about it with the same old argument that pirated stuff is depriving the stars of their lively hood. We know they drive Ferraris and BMWs. We on the other hand, we can only buy Proton and Perodua. So, seriously vhanded, I know you want to protect the entertainment industry from dying. I for one, don’t care if it dies. Not as if the entertainment is any good in recent years. Mediocre, lame and bad has been talk of the day. Do I really have to explain this again and again?

Selfish thinking? Ignorant bastard?. Flawed reasoning? Trying to justify? It’s reality. Not Celebrity Reality.

Wordpress has released Wordpress 2.3.1 Released Candidate 1 to the beta testers. Here is the list of fixed since 2.3. Changelog is basically the same as Wordpress 2.3.1 Beta1 except changes to wp-mail.php.

According to the bug fixed list, has any bug or problems you encounter being fixed?

Bug fixed list :

1. Email notifications fail on hosted sites that check sender address
2. Add Windows Live Writer manifest XML file (and images), enables tagging support
3. i18n error in MT importer
4. Spelling error in UTW importer
5. clean_url() should not encode ampersands on the way to the db
6. Post preview broken
7. Visual Editor Disabled, Editing a Page With HTML Encoded Entities &lt;span&gt; changes them into <> changing the content
8. Posting from email addresses with “hyphen” cannot be assigned to the user
9. statistics reported back from wordpress 2.3 bugged
10. WordPress (plugin) updates compare unexpected values to find update matches
11. Blogroll -> Import Links doesn’t use link terms and importing assigns them to numerical categories
12. “Browse” interface in “Upload” broken
13. Duplicate entry errors when inserting term relationships during upgrade to 2.3
14. Use INNER JOIN instead of LEFT JOIN for taxonomy
15. Undeclared variable in _cat_row()

I will be installing 2.3.1 Beta 1 here. So, things might just break.
