After saving the Universe, you did think Simon and Nia (picture above) will live a happy ever after life? No….. for an impossible good deed they managed to pull off, they were punished for it. Nia is dead and Simon is bitter. Is this what happened when you are the good guys? If that is the case, everyone should do bad things, because bad people don’t die, don’t suffer, don’t…etc…… And don’t come and tell me “Life’s like that.” Not everything is “Life’s Like That”. So, my suggestion, don’t be the good guy. You will get punished for saving humanity and the universe!!!

These two are “Romeo & Juliet” cursed. One of them is dead, making the other bitter. The price these two pay to save the universe. Unfair isn’t it?

I wonder if it is because of their previous work “Neon Genesis Evangelion“, that Gainax is more famous for. And, just like Evangelion, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann hit it off with “almost” a home run for the whole series….EXCEPT…….the final episode. It was rather disappointing. Not as disappointing as the last two episode of Evangelion (not counting End of Evangelion), but close enough. Even though the ending of Pretty Cure Max Heart (I just finished watching it and I know it an old series) was too a bit disappointing, I rather have Pretty Cure Max Heart ending anytime than Gurren Lagann’s ending.

The final few minutes of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann just “kill” the mood for the whole series, that makes you wanna cry or more likely to swear in disgust at how an awesome series could end like that and give you almost the same vibes as the last two episode of Evangelion (assuming that you don’t understand episode 25 and 26 of Evangelion.). I hate it when a series ends with a mood killer, it doens’t do justice to the series at all. Compare that to Pretty Cure series, the mood killer for Pretty Cure is the almost the same fight scene(with some variation to them) happening in almost every episode. At least the mood killer started early, unlike Gurren Lagann.

Maybe is because of Evangelion that people are prepared for a “not so expected” ending. Well, very close because it turns out that the ending to me is one unexpected after another. Scenes at the end of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann really makes me feel depressed, not to mention a lot of “Why?” and “What the f___?”. I feel sorry for Simon.

Overall, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is an awesome series, the only thing that caused it to get “killed” is the ending. The ending has that “It totally killed the whole series” syndrome. While Pretty Cure ended slightly unexpected, but still it is an expected ending (because the ending is a common ending with a slight twist).

Now, can I destroy Gainax using Eva01? or can I get Gurren-Lagann to do it for me? Or maybe the Legendary Warriors, Pretty Cure can whack Gainax out of this universe.
